Ok so this has nothing to do with English. but i was reading the newspaper this morning and it had the whole coverage of the funeral and the daughers speech thing to them, and i thought it was really stupid what she said sometimes..... like when she was saying the part that was to her brother and she said "Youve never broken a promise in your life, why are you starting now?" and i thought it was stupid because it seemed very selfish...
My mum disagrees and she says "its psychology" but its more like shes making them sound guilty

I tend to agree, Katrina. Although this is a sad story, the girl is clearly too distraught to be speaking in public and having it recorded in newspapers. Her "Where have you gone, Mummy?" speech was strange and nonsensical.
ReplyDeletePart of the grieving process is blame. To blame others. Soon she will blame herself for being selfish and going on holidays when she should have been with her family.
Your mother's right, Katrina. It's a psychological battle this girl is having with herself.
The press should back off and let her regain her sanity,
But: (from the media's POV) where's the story in that!?
ReplyDelete"Girl takes time in to grieve in private" doesn't really have the same ring to it as: "Girl has violent, life-destroying breakdown during press conference" does it? the papers are just waiting for either a revenge attack or her to top herself!
The media will always put sales before humanity.
*sigh* What a wonderful world we live in!
i don't really agree with that, because yes part of grief is blame, but i get what she was saying about her brother, because even though it is selfish, it's not like he wanted to die.
