With my exposition,
Is it alright if i go through and say why its not all the other characters faults, and they're not to blame and then in a nice last paragraph destroy Juliets reputation and blame it all on her?
Or would it be best to blame it all on her from the start?
Keep in mind i'll still be using my first paragraph.

Just out of curiosity, do you hate Juliet? lol, it's just that you seem pretty hell bent on destryoing her. Don't be offended though, I think she was wrong too though, as well as the Friar, the nurse, Romeo, Shakespear, Prince, Capulet, Lady Capulet, Lady Montague, Benvolio, Messager and Mercutio. I liked lord Montague though, he seemed pretty cool.

ReplyDeleteAnd to answer your question i dont hate Juliet. I quiet like her character. She's one of my favorite characters.
I'm simply hell bent on destroying her perfect image. I want to blame her beause i can and nobody else really will. And i think the other characters deserve a break.
And yes, Lord Montague was pretty cool

It was only a matter of time before someone blamed me for Romeo and Juliet's deaths. I mean, I've read it with classes for years... how many times do these poor kids have to die?
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, Amy, your planned approach seems fine. It's a means to an end, really. You have a point to assert and you have chosen an approach. Fine. No two essays will ever be the same, despite having the same point to prove. Just be sure you don't draw too much attention from your real purpose: WHY/HOW Juliet is to blame.
Oh, and if we're playing the blame game, don't forget Mrs. Meredith (she kicks like a mule and chews tobacco!) and the entire English department for selecting R & J as a text in the first place. Why don't we blame Queen Elizabeth for liking Shakespeare's plays? I'm sure he only wrote R & J because of her BLOODY support of his craft. Stupid queen!

ReplyDeleteOk if we're doing this then we need to go all teh way abck to people who invented ways of recording things, whoever invented language and those that decided theatre is a good form of entertainment.
ReplyDeleteI mean come on, how can we leave out the printers who made copies of Shakespeares scripts, those who distributed them, read them and therefore made them poplular enough to last this long?
Oh yeah, we also need to blame the people who gave Shakespeare the ide as well. Can't for get them.
Anyone else having trouble figuring out how to solely blame one person? I guess for the purpose of an arguement you haven't got a choice. But really...
What about God? He had a pretty large part in it all, what with creating the world and all...
